- Hi all;
-
- I'm sitting here looking at an adv for an embedded computer card that
- has a starting price of $199.
-
- Whats so special about it? Well, it appears to be compatible with
- 68060's, 68040's, and ColdFire cpu chips. Its about 4" square, could
- have as much as 512k of cache sram, presumably an extra cost option.
- It has 2 simm sockets for up to 64meg of EDO dram.
-
- The adv also says they will custom design an I/O interface free for
- OEM applications. Now, I have no idea where the OEM line is drawn in
- this silicon, but I doubt they would consider an order for 100 of
- them as qualifying, 10 thousand is probably the figure they have in
- mind.
-
- But, it does bring up an interesting "what if".
-
- As in what if they designed this interface to hit the zorroII buss in
- a A2k? Even if they wanted another $200 per interface card bringing
- the zero k price to $400, it might be one way to put our A2k's on a
- hi speed diet, and do it cheaper than phase 5 can.
-
- Well, I think I'm dreaming, but the company is
-
- General Micro Systems Inc., 1-800-307-4VME
